Golden Island Shopping Centre was a hive of activity on Friday morning last as the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) rolled out their 'Back in 5' campaign. Aimed at bringing awareness to those who pay scant regard to wheelchair parking bays on a daily basis, the event was attended by Deputy Kevin Boxer Moran TD, Town Mayor, Cllr. Frankie Keena, Westmeath County Council Cathaoirleach, Cllr. John Dolan, Athlone access awareness and NCBI personnel, along with staff and service Users from IWA and IWA Sunshine Club.

Three minutes in looked like they might do it the easy way, hitting Waterford for three points in the opening 180 seconds, but once Kevin Moran got in behind the Galway defence and drove the ball low past Colm Callanan in the Galway goal to kick life into what looked like a startled Waterford, it was game on.

The 18th FBD Young Farmer of the Year has been named as Kevin Moran, a young dairy farmer from Claremorris. He has won the prestigious title following a challenging interview process and an on farm visit. Judging panel chairman, Michael Hoey, Managing Director of Country Crest, announced the winner at an awards ceremony in the Boyne Valley Hotel and Country Club yesterday. Kevin has won a travel bursary worth €3,000.
